21st Annual Conference of the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Cardiology

Who is eligible to enter?
Adult and pediatric cardiology fellows (including advanced cardiovascular training tracks)
Cardiothoracic surgery fellows
Internal medicine residents performing research in cardiology

About the Poster Competition
- Abstracts will be evaluated by a panel of cardiologists on the basis of originality, clinical interest/importance, scientific content/quality.
- 20 abstracts will be accepted for presentation at the Chapter Conference. Notification will be made via email by July 31.
- Friday at the conference:
- Posters must be set up by 2:00 pm.
- The poster room will be closed from 2:00-4:30 pm for judges to review the
posters.
- The names of 6 finalists will be posted at 4:30 pm
- Finalists will give oral poster presentations and answer judges’ questions from
5:00-6:00 pm.
- Saturday at the conference
- During the general session, results of the competition will be announced and prizes will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place presenters.

About the Oral Case Competition
- Ten cases will be selected for presentation based on the case description provided.
- Notification will be made via email by July 31.
- Friday at the conference:
- Cases will be presented from 2:00 – 6:00 pm
- Presenters will have 15 minutes to be allotted as follows:
Case history, physical, diagnostics, etc. (10 minutes)
Diagnosis and short discussion (3 minutes)
Question and answer period (time remaining)
- Case presentations will be judged by a panel of cardiologists based on general interest, scientific accuracy, uniqueness/difficulty of diagnosis, quality/completeness of supporting data and clarity/style of presentation.
- Saturday at the conference:
- During the general session, results of the competition will be announced and prizes will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place presenters
